The Lawson Group is an investment and development subsidiary of The Lawson Companies that was incorporated on November 27th, 1979. Lawson Group develops and invests in multi-family properties, land development deals, and commercial properties in the Hampton Roads area and beyond.
This subsidiary is a licensed Class A General Contractor in the state of Virginia (License number: #2701 015279A) that was founded on January 11th, 1972. The R.A. Lawson Corporation builds single-family residential, multi-family residential projects, and also rehabilitates multi-family properties. The company has built more than 700 multi-family units and more than 650 single-family homes since entering that business more than a decade ago. The R. A. Lawson Corporation maintains in-house computer aided design and reprographic capability in order to produce our own construction drawings. This design capability gives us the ability to customize plans for each project or buyer as needed.
Licensed in 1946 as Bush Realty and reorganized in 1972 as Lawson Realty, this subsidiary has managed multi-family properties in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Hampton, Portsmouth, and Richmond, Virginia. We recently expanded into South Carolina and are pursuing further expansion into other Southeastern states.

This subsidiary provides our managed properties with expertise in partnership management, capital management, and financing support. Lawson Asset Management handles all partnership issues involving capital structure and long-range planning. Typical issues are review and approval of fifteen-year capital plans, ongoing review of capital structure, transfers of interests, and financing support. Financing support includes the preparation of loan applications and compilation of underwriting support documents, sources and uses analysis, the analysis and selection of financing type and source (including competitive quotes), management of the due diligence process and all required third party documents, and management of the closing process.
